New hopper 747 now operating in the mining plant Auguste VictoriaIn October 2011 the new hopper 747 was put into operation on the mining plant Auguste Victoria. The new coal bunker is a very important part of the large-scale underground hard coal project in production panel 50 carried out in line with the infrastructural changes for the mining plant Auguste Victoria.
The conveyor technology equipment for infeed and discharge was designed and manufactured by HESE Maschinenfabrik GmbH. The special feature of the infeed is the assembly of two heads of conveyors on top of each other with one common material bag; belt width 1,400 mm and for the discharge a robust hopper discharge conveyor for a maximum of 3,200 t/h capacity, equipped with a frequency controlled motor, fully suspended path and transfer to the successive belt conveyor. Thanks to the good cooperation of the mining plant AV and the companies Thyssen Schachtbau, Mülheim (mining work) and HESE (materials handling systems) the project was completed smoothly and in time. ![]() Mining plant integrated infrastructural large-scale project in discharge center line
At the beginning of October after two years of construction the mining plant Auguste Victoria put the hopper 747 into operation in production panel 50. Plant manager Jürgen Kroker was on site to press the red button that started the charging of the hopper. He was accompanied by representatives of the companies involved in the construction. “The construction of this hopper is the last big infrastructural measure in the operating time of our mining plant. It means a lot to our target achievement, because it takes over the discharge of the successive genuine extraction heights from our northern field part”, Mr Korker said. He was proud that the team completed such a large-scale project without any accident subject to report. Hopper 747 is one of the three standard constructions of the RAG; the other two are at the mining plant Prosper-Haniel. “Standard” is probably not the right expression for hopper 747, since it has one outstanding feature: in future it will be charged by the operation of two layers lying on top of each other. Currently such a hopper is being used by the company Thyssen for the local section machine drive. Special construction When the extraction height 593 is put into operation in 2012, the existing discharge direction will be turned to hopper 747. Then it will be charged by two belts lying on top of each other. This special feature required a specified construction that – like the hopper discharge – was provided by HESE Maschinenfabrik GmbH. “90 tons of steel were needed for the construction of the hopper that were always delivered to the site on time thanks to the effective logistics”, Mr Kroker said. 1,200 tons of concrete were inserted in the hopper by Thyssen Schachtbau. Here the mining plant Auguste Victoria used a special type of sprayed concrete (Anker/anchor) for the first time. The diameter of the construction is approximately 9 m, the effective depth 16 m and the volume 750 cubic m. There will have been 11,000,000 tons of gross production in year 2015 steadily on the discharge conveyor line, of which approximately 5,600,000 tons of coal. Data and facts hopper 747
